Welcome
At UMass Memorial Health Care, patient-centered care begins with primary care. We are the dominant health care delivery system in Central Massachusetts, with more than 500 employed and affiliated primary care physicians in our network. We are partners with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, which is consistently nationally ranked in the top 8* for training in primary care.
Support for primary care is based in our Center for the Advancement of Primary Care (CAPC), jointly sponsored by the health care system and the medical school.

The Center for the Advancement of Primary Care sponsors a variety of initiatives to promote primary care, ranging from sponsorship of student activities in primary care to reengineering projects that transform practices into the medical homes of the 21st century. In a study conducted by the Center, our primary care physicians reported that their satisfaction with patient and colleague relationships was 11 percent higher than a nationally representative sample of primary care physicians.
